A Place to call home
Life feels better Here
Since its founding in 1990, Down Home Ranch has grown from serving just three people to a thriving residential community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Here, residents build skills, independence, and lasting connections in a safe, supportive rural setting.
Down Home Ranch offers a variety of residential options including group homes, suite-style homes, independent living experiences, and intermediate care facilities. As a provider of the Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) waiver program in Elgin, the Ranch gives residents access to services and supports covered through HCS, which helps fund long-term care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services include room and board, day programming, transportation, nursing care, case coordination, case management, and vocational support. Amenities include a community center, pool, basketball court, archery range, fishing pond, kayak launch, fire pit, hiking trails, and interaction with Ranch animals.
There are no current openings, but fill out an interest form if you’re interested. Residency applications will be reviewed by staff, and families will be contacted if their applicant appears to be a good match.
While you wait, consider joining our Day Program for opportunities to experience Ranch life!
