Come Back To Camp
Ranch Camp is a summer camp for adults and teens with intellectual disabilities. Our camp is like any summer camp with days full of fun-filled activities. Activities include fishing, kayaking, swimming, BB guns, archery, sports, crafts, horses, and more. Plus we have a party every night! We dance, sing karaoke, party by the pool and more. Each summer, we have opportunities for paid staff and volunteers. Try a session of volunteering and see how much fun Ranch Camp can be. Come back the next year and become part of the staff!
Staff
The qualified Ranch Camp applicant is an extraordinary, excited individual who can encourage, enrich and empower our exceptional campers. Our staff is carefully screened and trained. The staff to camper ratio is 1:3. Everyone involved in camp must have a love for both camping in general and for our campers in particular. We can safely say that most people fall in love with both their first week at camp! Wages vary depending upon position and experience. All positions include room and board. A bonus is paid to staff who fulfill commitment to work all 8 Sessions of Ranch Camp. All counseling staff must be CPR certified. This is a certification you must obtain at your own expense. Courses are available online and cost about $20. Qualified Ranch Camp staff applicants MUST commit to work one full term, and must attend the mandatory staff training typically held the first week in June.
Volunteers and
Counselors-in-Training (CIT) Our program is doable because of the eagerness of people from all over who come and assist our campers in having the best camping experience imaginable. We are looking for folks who are ready to encourage every camper who comes through our gates. Each volunteer serves on-site for a minimum of one week. Volunteers are asked to put aside their own needs and focus on the campers 100%! You will not regret spending this week with us! Volunteers must be 14 or have competed the 8th grade school year. There is no cost to volunteer. However, there are costs - meals, lodging, supplies, etc. - associated with everyone who volunteers. We ask that you consider making a donation to Ranch Camp to offset these costs. We would be truly grateful.
Policies
Every applicant 18 and older is required to pay $15 to cover the cost of a criminal background check. This fee should be submitted with your completed criminal background check form and application. If you are 18 or older, your application will not be considered without the background check form and fee. Please understand that you are solely responsible for your transportation to and from Down Home Ranch and Ranch Camp. Ranch Camp does provide transportation to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas for a round-trip fee of $100 for staff and volunteers who are 18 years old or older. At this time we are unable to provide transportation for minors. You are responsible to tell us you need this service, request the forms to arrange the service, verify Ranch Camp has a copy of your flight itinerary, and pay in advance for the service.
