Welcome to Ranch Camp!
Ranch Camp is a residential summer camp for adults and teens with intellectual disabilities. In lots of ways it's just like any other summer campdays spent filled with fun activities, making new friends and learning new things. But Ranch Camp is different, too, and the difference is right there in our name: Ranch Camp! We're also a year-round working farm and ranch. We work alongside our Ranchers, wholike our campershave intellectual disabilities. Together we all pitch in to care for the livestock, gather the eggs, hay the cows, feed and groom the horses, clean the buildings, and cook the food. Our Ranchers help us run Ranch Camp, too. Still, we need lots of extra help in the summer and have loads of opportunities, both paid and volunteer, for helpers of all kinds.
Paid Staff
We're looking for exceptional people who can encourage, enrich, and empower our exceptional campers. Everyone at camp must love camping and campers. At Ranch Camp it's easy to do both! Wages are competitive and depend upon position and experience. All positions include room and board. A bonus is paid to staff who work all six sessions of camp. All staff who will work directly with campers must attend and complete the mandatory staff training, held prior to the first camp session. During staff training week you will learn about your campers and their disabilities, learn the policies and procedures that govern camp, learn to work as a team, be trained in CPR, and prepare the camp environment to be beautiful, warm, and welcoming when the campers arrive.
Volunteers and Counselors-in-Training (CIT)
Many if not most of our paid counseling staff got their start as volunteers. In fact, some full-time Ranch staff got their start at the age of 13 when they first volunteered as CITs, including our Camp Director! Volunteers may sign up for as little as one week, or as many as six, and may come during daytime hours only or stay at the Ranch around the clock. Meals, housing, and laundry facilities are available at no cost to volunteers, and volunteers under the age of 17 are directly supervised by a regular staff member.
General Information
Every applicant 18 and older is subject to a criminal background check.
